Nature + People initiatives
This map brings together over 100 nature-based initiatives across Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, from community-led efforts to large-scale programmes. It aims to show how people and nature are working together to face challenges like flooding, heat, pollution, and food insecurity. This mapping is part of the Listen, Learn and Leap project, which supports nature-based initiatives strengthening climate resilience, promoting social and environmental justice, and recognising the power of community action.
Each of the initiatives featured here represents a powerful example of local leadership and collective care. The individuals, grassroots groups, and community-based organisations are not just responding to environmental risks and social injustices, they are shaping greener, safer, and more equitable cities. This map is a tool to help you gain visibility, connect with others, and open doors to funding, partnerships, and policy engagement.
If you are working with nature in these cities, please get in touch to have your work featured.
